Covenant’s Independent Contractors are supported by the best programs and staff on the road. Below are details about our Independent Contractor program, where you can run as any one of the following:

     - Over The Road: Team or Solo
     - Dedicated: Team or Solo

CONTRACTOR PAY: Top teams averaged $78,610 each in 2008. Solos averaged $55,764.
FUEL SURCHARGE: - 100% reimbursement of fuel surcharge billed the previous month
- $.90 reimbursement of fuel surcharge billed the previous month (Dedicated)
SAFETY BONUS: Up to $.01 on all paid miles
(must meet requirements)
INSURANCE & RETIREMENT: Available
BASE PLATES & PERMITS: Furnished

COVENANT DRIVER REQUIREMENTS


Following are standards that must be met to become a driver at Covenant Transport.

- Experienced Solo and Team Independent Contractors must have 6 months verifiable
   interstate tractor-trailer driving within last 12 months
- Valid CDL-A license
- Must be 21 yrs of age
- Must have HazMat endorsement
- Verifiable employment for past 3 yrs
- No more than 3 moving violations in past 3 yrs(no reckless driving in past 3 yrs)
- No more than 1 preventable accident in motor vehicle in last 3 yrs
- No DUI or drug/alcohol-related motor vehicle incidents in past 5 yrs(not more than one
   total allowed)
- No drug/violent felony convictions within past 10 yrs. No current parole or arrest warrants
- Must pass drug test and DOT/Covenant physical and meet DOT driving standards



Please note: If you are disqualified at driver orientation for something you did not disclose to our recruiter prior to orientation, you will be responsible for your own transportation home. Examples of such non-disclosures include failure to report a felony charge under 10 years, exceeding maximum moving & accident violations, suspended license under 3 years, DWI/DUI under 5 years, reckless driving under 3 years, and positive drug screen.
